The first album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies was released in March 2005, mixing hip-hop, downtempo, trip-hop with samples extracted from movies. This album became one of the best selling electronic releases of the year.

The second album Hope & Sorrow released in April 2007.

It was nominated for the French “Victoires de la Musique” and US Indie music award.

Koop won a Swedish Grammy Award in 2003 for the album “Waltz for Koop”, and received a Gold certification for sales of their most recent album, Koop Islands. Their orchestrated sound is achieved by slowly putting together thousands of small clips from records until the songs are ready, which helps explain the long time it takes to make a Koop album.

Vocals have been provided by singers such as Ane Brun, Yukimi Nagano, Hilde Louise Asbjornsen, Rob Gallagher and Mikael Sundin.

Zwicker aka Cyril Boehler is a very prolific producer,composer and dj from Zuerich. He is part of the vital Zuerich electronic scene and has been involved in countless productions that received praise from a worldwide audience.

After a handful of successful vinyl Zwicker releases on the renownend labels BearFunk, Compost Black Label and Get Physical it was time to refine the warm mixture of mutated Disco, House, Electro and Pop on a full length album. On  „Songs of lucid dreamers“ he has found a unique blend that combines electronic styles with songwriting.

Guests on the album include: Heidi Happy, Jamie Lloyd, Olivera Stanimirov (ex Seelenluft), Matt Didemus (Junior Boys) and many more.

Cyril says: „Most of the songs on this album are about dreams. Written by me and the guest vocalists. We are musicians who follow our dreams at night and day. In my dreams and songs I am a lucid dreamer“

Best known for their striking documentary Isolation, about former paratrooper Stuart Griffiths, as well as videos for the likes of British Sea Power and Wild Beasts, Institute For Eyes were invited to visually realise Moby’s new single, taken from his most recent studio album Destroyed (self-released on Moby’s very own label Little Idiot).

Lie Down In Darkness is a soulful track of sublime melancholy and symphonic grandeur and the video’s narrative reflects this sense of epic scale, as it follows an astronaut looking back on his life of space travel, journeying through an architecturally heightened London.

Shot in contemporary London, the locations for Lie Down in Darkness reference 1960′s and 1970′s periods, recalling modernist and Soviet austerity. The astronaut travels past such iconic London landmarks as the Barbican Centre and Southbank, in a journey of angles and minimalism, tunnels and flashes of dark and light. Visual elements of JG Ballard meet A Clockwork Orange undertones, intercut with sequences depicting outer space.

Luke Seomore and Joseph Bull, aka Institute For Eyes, said about the idea for the video: “The song has a graceful, very cinematic quality, so the idea of weightlessness quickly began to form. An intense otherworldly journey seemed to mirror the atmosphere of the song. Somesuch and Co helped us to put together a great team to make the video happen; we hope you enjoy it.”
Moby said about the making of the video, “It was great working with video directors Institute for Eyes, and I’m really happy with the final result. Their video really enhances the cinematic qualities in the song.”

In 2002 together with DJ Mcd, they formed Neverland, chilled out productions with the project ‘Dreams’ from Planetworks. In 2005 he was featured in the collection Sound of Everything ”Hellectronic 01” with the track ”ELECTRONOVA” featuring Romero Miller. He has collaborated with artists such as MELODIQ, R.A.H., VICKDA CREED. Since 2008, he is a member of the 4 piece group NEIGHBOURS as a DJ and live beatmaker and also an artist of CAST-A-BLAST.

His latest work featured on Multi Vitamins release MV16 is the track ”PARTY”. Jazzova digs deep into vintage grooves, messing with obscure Greek sounds and voices from the 50’s, soul music, bossa and retro-swing, creating a simple and effective world which brings us back to all that is good about hip-hop, beats and head-nodding.

Great surf-rock filtered through campy horror would-be novelty album

The Ghouls was a Capitol Records in-band-name-only project of producer/songwriter Gary Usher (sometime co-writer with Brian Wilson in the early 60′s) featuring Richard Polodor on guitar and Rick Burns on vocals. Rick Burns sings (or talk-sings in a style not too dissimilar to “Monster Mash”) faux early Beach Boys songs like “Be True To Your Ghoul” and “Dracula’s Deuce” which establishes the mid-60′s campy horror theme of the album. These tracks do their job just fine in creating a silly throwaway novelty theme.

However, unassumingly, six of the the twelve tracks (in fact every other track) are great, moody and very effective instrumental surf-rock songs. “Dracula’s Theme” is perhaps one of the very finest slow surf rock numbers of it’s kind. So good in fact that it’s a shame it was released on an album such as this where the audience who’d actually appreciate it would probably never actually hear it.

“Coffin Nails”, “Voo Doo Juice” and the very cool and exceptional “Weird Wolf” are variations on the reverb guitar with lots of moody organ. “Blood & Butter” and “Shake Rattle & Rot” incorporate saxophone into the mix. As for the remaining novelty-numbers “Bela Be Good” (Johnny B. Goode), “Little Old Lady From Transylvania” (Pasadena) and the “Graveyard Shift” (with a trippy little organ solo) all make much use of the phrase “grave undertaking”.

Even if you’ve no interest in the actual album you’ve gotta love the psychedelic cover art with the priceless photos of Dracula posing by his wheels. Very recommended for those so inclined.

‘Sleepwalker’ is the third single to be lifted from ‘The Sleepwalking Society’, released 21st November 2011 on Tru Thoughts Records. The single features remixes from Lanu, Mark de Clive-Lowe and Ambassadeurs.

The band was founded in 2001 by Gonzalez and former member Nicolas Fromageau in Antibes, France.The musical style of M83 owes something to the shoegazing genre in its extensive use of reverb effects and lyrics spoken softly over loud instrumentals, although M83′s songs employ considerably less guitar than most shoegazing bands.

Gonzalez and Fromageau parted ways shortly after touring for their second album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts, and now Gonzalez records mainly on his own, often with the help of his brother Yann Gonzalez, vocalist/keyboardist Morgan Kibby, and drummer Loïc Maurin.

Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming is the sixth studio album by French electronic band M83.

The double album was released on 18 October 2011 by Naïve Records in France and Mute Records in the United States.

The album was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen and has received generally positive reviews.

In addition, it debuted at number fifteen on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 21,000 copies, becoming M83′s highest-charting album to date.

After garnering international critical acclaim and selling over 14 million records worldwide, experimental electronic music artist Robert Miles has returned with his new album Th1rt3en, scheduled for US release in February 2011 through his own indie label, S:alt Records. Implementing a progressive blend of electronica, alternative rock, and jazz compositions the album’s reflective experimentations break new ground and are a sonic leap forward from Miles’s previously critically acclaimed predecessors, Organik and Miles_Gurtu.  Guest artists on Th1rt3en include Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Dave Okumu (The Invisible), Mike Patto and John Thorne (Lamb).

Toro y Moi, aka South Carolina native Chaz Bundick, released his second album about now. The press release describes the record, Underneath The Pine, as a companion record to the first — Bundick had originally planned to release both in 2010. And this one, unlike Causers Of This features all live instrumentation and no samples. “Still Sound” is much meatier than “Blessa” or any of Causers Of This, this track is also featured on our sister site stereosea.*Nods to his label for granting us play*
